Commander's Welcome

E-mail Print

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As the Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Corps’ Website. Our intent for this website is to present you with the most current information about the Multinational Corps Northeast, which is enriched by photographs and videos capturing the multinational spirit of the Corps as well as its role within the NATO family.

Founded in 1999 by Denmark, Germany, and Poland, the Multinational Corps Northeast is a fine example of modern military cooperation where drawing on the experiences of other nations has become an efficient way to achieve a common success. We are no longer a three-nation Corps; eight more countries have joined in contributing to our unique working environment. Moreover, our community is looking forward to welcoming other nations in the team.

Being a member of the Multinational Corps Northeast is an incessant source of pride.  Above all, the Corps is rich in varied experiences, including those most relevant to military organisations and mission experiences. It took only 5 years after the establishment of the Corps to achieve a high level of competence entitling it to receiving the Full Operational Capability certificate. Soon thereafter, the Headquarters’ personnel contributed to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan where they were highly ranked by superiors. In 2010, the Corps’ staff again served for 6 months in Afghanistan. This time, most of the officers and non-commissioned officers were serving at the ISAF Joint Command Headquarters, proving high level of dedication and professionalism.

The Corps’ mission did not finish after our personnel redeployed from the Afghan Theatre.  On the contrary, our Subject Matter Experts have been sharing their experiences with other headquarters, thus enhancing the knowledge and performance of our successors in Afghanistan.

In addition, self-development has always been essential to our Corps. We are using our lessons learnt from our most recent Afghanistan rotation to improve our mission preparation process and internal procedures.  Furthermore, the Multinational Corps Northeast as part of the NATO Force Structure is very much involved in a transformation analysis and process. We will adjust our organisation and competences accordingly to meet our new challenges and new demands. The new structure, which is being developed, will fully reflect the Corps’s flexibility and readiness to adapt to changes.

The Corps is following a strict training and exercise cycle to maintain high standards and ensure its innovative character. Advanced technological solutions, adjustments to procedures and structures, as well as the integration of the Command Support Brigade, a unit assigned to the Corps, will be thoroughly tested during the upcoming 2011 exercises and will culminate during Crystal Eagle Exercise 2012.  We will not allow ourselves to lag behind.

Apart from military aspects, I would like to underline the integration aspect of our Corps’ family consisting of eleven nations – The Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the United States. We are not only partners in completing assigned tasks, we are also friends supporting each other and learning from each other, genuinely welcoming each and every newcomer into our community.

I am providing you with a variety of articles reflecting everything I have mentioned, I hope you are as enchanted by the world of the Multinational Corps Northeast as we are so that our website will become one of your favourites.
