E-mail Print
The Exercise Baltic Express 2004 took place from the 10th to 12th October 2004. During those three days the Exercise was conducted in Baltic Barracks in Szczecin and on a small airfield in Goleniow as well as in the training area in Wałcz (Westpomerania region).

Baltic Express 2004 Exercise was the next step towards preparing Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) for the Full Operational Capability test. The Corps should achieve Full Operational Capability in 2005. During the Baltic Express 2004 Exercise all servicemen of the corps had to prove that the multinational unit was able to participate in all NATO led operations and that it was able to co-operate with other NATO member countries.

When the corps achieves the full operational capability, it would be at the disposition of the SHAPE in order to carry out agreed tasks during peace missions in various parts of the world

Baltic Express 2004 Exercise was based on a scenario, in which the Cyberian Peninsula (Pyrenean Peninsula on maps) was occupied by five countries. Two of them, Alfaland (A-Land) and Bravoland (B-Land) were in a conflict. Armed forces of B-Land seized a part of the territory belonging to A-Land. Based on a resolution of the UN Security Council, Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE), as a part of NATO forces, has been assigned to carry out a stabilization mission in the region. The UN has summoned B-Land to leave the territory of the neighbouring country immediately. If the occupant did not withdraw its forces within the time given in the ultimatum, the UN forces would commence operations against the armed forces of B-Land in order to drive them off to the border.

In exercise participated Command Support Brigade of MNC NE that supported the command process and communications of the corps. The brigade consisted of: 100 Signal Battalion from Wałcz, 610 Signal Battalion from Rendsburg and signal subunits from Denmark. Furthermore the corps also consisted of: 12 Mechanized Division, Danish Division and German Mechanized Division HANSE, as well as other support units.
