Every single soldier had to prove his knowledge during six-day exercise Compact Grey 2006.
380 soldiers from 610th German Battalion, 100th Polish Battalion and advanced party from Multinational Corps Northeast practiced their skills in the field. Every single soldier had to prove his knowledge during six-day exercise Compact Grey 2006, which started on the 29th August in Rendsburg. Troops with their equipment moved to Schleswig-Holstein and than ended on the 4th September in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Jaegerbrueck.
The two signal battalions were divided in to 16 installations and created communication network by a combining technical and satellite communication. Each installation had to relocate, i.e. break down and re-establish, approximately five times during the exercise.
The main purpose of exercise Compact Grey 2006 was the technical interchange between two different communication systems, which was ensured by the common training of both signal battalions. - "For example one of my officers dialed my mobile phone number to one of this communication stations and I´ve received a phone call which went through the polish communication system Storczyk, via SATCOM to Szczecin and then from Szczecin to my mobile phone" – said LtCol. Teglers. He expressed his great satisfaction with the overall preparation, progress and achievements of the exercise.
