From 4th to 6th April, Baltic Barracks welcomed guests from the subordinate units taking part in the exercise Cool Gasket 2006. The main reason for the exercise was to prepare Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) for the international, "large scale" exercise Crystal Eagle 06 in Wildflecken, in autumn 2006.
The main objectives of the Cool Gasket were to achieve the common understanding on structures and procedures within the functional areas, presented in the new concept of the Field Headquarters. Using military terms, the participants were focused on relation of HQ as Land Component Command towards the subordinated troops.
For the first two days soldiers were familiarized with that new force structure that will be used during the exercise in Wildflecken. During the third day of exercise the participants went into details concerning exercise’s scenario. Similarly to the last exercise, all activities will take place in fictional country Auriga on Cyberian Penisula. Creating the imaginary scenario allowed soldiers to become visually familiar with the written plan and enabled them to find the most optimal solutions during the fictional combat action. Furthermore, participants were provided with various unpredictable circumstances during the exercise, what gave them invaluable opportunity to practise various military reactions and NATO procedures.
