Exercise Crystal Eagle 2000

Multinational Corps Northeast participated in the Exercise Crystal Eagle 2000 under the command of Danish Lieutenant General Henrik H. Ekmann. 3,900 troops from HQ MNC NE, Danish Division, 14th German and 12th Polish Mechanised Divisions met in Drawsko Pomorskie area in the north - west of Poland.

In the period between 13 and 22 November, the exercise CRYSTAL EAGLE 2000 took place. MULTINATIONAL CORPS NORTHEAST participated in the exercise under the command of Danish LTGEN Henrik H. EKMANN. 3,900 troops from HQ MNC NE, Danish Division, 14th German and 12th Polish Mechanised Divisions met in Drawsko Pomorskie area in the north - west of Poland. They trained planning and conducting Article V operations, which include collective defence of NATO territory. The exercise was commanded by LTGEN Rainer SCHUWIRTH, Commander of IV Bundeswehr Corps.

On 22nd November, the exercising soldiers were visited by the President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander KWASNIEWSKI, Danish Minister of Defence Hans HAEKKERUP, German Under-secretary of State Walter KOLBOW and Polish Minister of Defence Bronislaw KOMOROWSKI. On the same day, an official ceremony announcing the operational readiness of Multinational Corps Northeast took place. This means that the Corps is fully prepared to carry out Article V Operations within NATO structures.
