Lieutenant Colonel Wojciech Wiśniewski, the Chief of Public Affairs and the Spokesperson at the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE), visited Szczecin’s Secondary School No 23 on 12 January 2012 to participate in one of the lessons.
The main idea was to provide an opportunity for students to train themselves in the journalist’s craft as a part of Polish lesson; however, the visit proved to be an excellent opportunity to talk about Multinational Corps Northeast, too. As The Corps’ personnel is always open to any initiatives presenting what the Corps is and what it does, Lieutenant Colonel Wiśniewski willingly accepted the invitation of Mr Andrzej Wiśniewski – a journalist from Szczecin who cooperates with the school and conducts lessons on journalism. Lieutenant Colonel Wiśniewski took part in the meeting with students who, just like real journalists, asked him questions and tried to learn more about Multinational Corps Northeast.
When the question & answer session was over, Lieutenant Colonel Wiśniewski gave a radio interview to two students who also prepared a series of questions.
What were the students interested in? Mostly in what the Corps really is, what it does and what conditions one has to meet in order to join the Corps. The students also wanted to know how the personnel of eleven nations communicate and cooperate with one another. They asked about a typical working day in Baltic Barracks as well as the specific roles a spokesperson has to play. Questions about multinational exercises and abroad missions were also on the agenda. The two students playing the role of radio journalists also touched upon more private issues asking Lieutenant Colonel Wiśniewski about desirable personality traits of a spokesperson, pros and cons of working as a spokesperson or even his personal reasons to join the army.
