On 7-9 February 2012, representatives from the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) G-7 Division participated in the NATO Graduated Reaction Forces - Land G-7 Workshop (G-7 WS) hosted by Allied Rapid Reaction Corps and co-hosted by Force Command Heidelberg, which was conducted at Imjin Barracks in Gloucester, United Kingdom.
The overall aim of the G-7 WS series is to allow the NATO Training and Exercise (TRG&EX) environment to outline and refine their support requirements in the current year and for the predicted forecast for 2013 - 2014. It is also intended to facilitate discussions on topics of mutual interests such as generating synergetic effects of planned TRG&EX activities.
For the Szczecin Headquarters representatives the focus for the workshop was to exchange information on NATO Military Training and Education Program (MTEP) in order to enable coordination and benefit from mutual offers and support with selected partners within the NATO Command Structure.
The G-7 Workshop as such provides a unique and necessary forum for developing mutual understanding of the complex impacts and consequences of the ongoing and future transformation within the NATO Command Structure.
A fast emerging topic for the Headquarters is also the development and design of HQ MNC NE next ISAF Pre-Deployment Training as the personnel from Szczecin will be supporting NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Turkey and deploy to Afghanistan in 2014.
It will be a series of dynamic events culminating in a Mission Rehearsal Exercise. A part of the process will be NATO-led, conducted in time and place pending on the result of a close coordination involving NATO's transatlantic training link composed of the Allied Command Transformation, Joint Warfare Centre and the United States Central Command Joint Coalition War-fighting.
Besides coordinating Mutual Training Support to and from our NATO sister Corps headquarters, HQ MNC NE also focused on attracting support for MNC NE’s exercise Crystal Eagle 13 (CE-13) where the Corps would be training two German Divisions in Crisis Response Operations in an ISAF-related scenario. CE 13 will be the most demanding exercise conducted by the MNC NE next year.
The next G-7 WS will be hosted by HQ MNC NE in Baltic Barracks in Szczecin, Poland in October.
