Deputy Commander of Multinational Corps Northeast Major General Jan B. Andersen unveiled the memorial plate of Lieutenant General Zygmunt Sadowski during the handover ceremony of new military apartment blocks next to Baltic Barracks.
Deputy Minister of Defence Janusz Zemke and Deputy Commander of MNC NE General Major Jan B. Andersen along with Westpomeranian Province Governor Stanislaw Wziatek, President of Szczecin Marian Jurczyk, His Excellency Bishop Jan Galecki and representatives of Regional Military Housing Agency as well as the members of the Multinational Corps Northeast participted in the handover ceremony. The new military housing area was blessed by His Excellency Bishop Jan Gałecki and officially opened by Deputy Minister Janusz Zemke.
During the ceremony Deputy Commander Major General Jan B. Andersen unveiled the memorial plate of Lieutenant General Zygmunt Sadowski to commemorate his sudden death in December 2003 and his tremendous contribution to Headquarters as the first Polish Commander of the Corps. In that way all members of the Multinational Corps Northeast would like to express their commemoration and respect for LT GEN Sadowski’s military service and his devotion to MNC NE.
Lieutenant General Zygmunt Sadowski was the Commander of Multinational Corps Northeast from April 2001 until December the 11th 2003. His command was filled with challenges including the integration of the Baltic States and a series of exercises, culminating in the evaluation for Interim Operational Capability (IOC) by NATO, which was successfully passed in late September 2003. He repeatedly stated that his assignment as the Commander of Multinational Corps Northeast was the most important in his military career.
