The German Community at Baltic Barracks celebrated the German Day of Unity (Tag der Deutschen Einheit).
During the official speech Lieutenant General Egon Ramms referred to various events marking the world’s history after the German reunification. The common political, cultural and social tour d’horizon through the years underlined the significance of the transformation and reintegration process within Central-East Europe. The words such as "unity", "community" and "unification" were also reflected during the celebration by the symbolic gesture of all guests by shaking their hands. In addition, the German Honorary Consul Mr Bartłomiej Sochański expressed his deep gratitude to all people who were involved in the initial process of establishing the democratic order in that part of Europe. He also thanked the political decisions makers who finally brought those voices to the governmental level and created the new geopolitical map of Europe.
The 15th Anniversary of German Reunification was also honored with a special event highlighting the importance of German Armed Forces transformation in recent years. Museum of Military History presented the exhibition from "50 Years of the Bundeswehr" including an exhibition of uniforms as well as the Hammelburg Infantry School’s exhibition "Infantrymen in the Future" was also on display during the event. The Members of the Classic String Quartet of Szczecin headed by Katarzyna Smoleń provided the proper frame for the event.
