TV programme "Szczecin with a sweet flavour" visited a house of Mrs and Mr Diedrich. Watch the program in December on TVP 3 channel, every Friday at 17.30!
Everybody likes Christmas. The smell of baked cake in the kitchen, preparing Christmas decorations, candles and of course the long-awaited presents under Christmas tree. Those who love baking aromatic Christmas cakes and cookies, should watch TV programme "Szczecin with a sweet flavour" broadcasts on TVP 3, every Friday at 17.30. Watch the program in December! Why? Because Ms Bogna Bartkiewicz together with her TV Team visited a house of Mrs and Mr Diedrich. The purpose was to present the traditional German cuisine and Christmas customs in typical German family. The head chef was obviously LtCol Hans J. Diedrich who presented a real culinary "meisterstück" – Lebkuchenhaus. A winter hut made from traditional German gingerbread, beautifully decorated with colorful candies and with extremely sweet white icing. The tradition of making “lebkuchenhaus” is deeply ingrained in Germany and very old in LtCol Diedrich family: For many years we make Lebkuchenhaus before Christmas. My children love eating them after Christmas Eve, as it still tastes wonderfully. In Germany Christmas baking reach very steep prices, such Lebkuchenhaus can cost from 75€ to even 200€ – said LtCol H. Diedrich.
This year LtCol H. Diedrich will have double work. He will have to make Lebkuchenhaus once again for his family, as those prepared during the shooting of the programme will be hand over to Charity Christmas Bazaar - I hope that my gingerbread house will receive a fair price as it costs me 8 hours to make it.
LtCol H. Diederich’s Lebkuchenhaus and many other Christmas goods will be sold on Saturday the 26th of November, between 14.00 and 18.00 in Radisson Hotel during the Second Charity Christmas Bazaar organized by the ladies from the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast.
