Approaching the end of 2005, I take the opportunity to thank you for your co-operation and support throughout 2005.Â
The year 2005 has been very busy for the Multinational Corps Northeast. The great achievement of the year was attaining the Full Operational Capability during exercise COMPACT EAGLE 05 in October – November. The finalization of the certification process within NATO is still ongoing, but I have good reasons to believe that the Multinational Corps Northeast will achieve the FOC certification.
It is important for me to underline that this certification would not have been achievable without you and your Nations support. I can best demonstrate this by emphasizing, that during the out-briefing it was noted by the Deployable Headquarters Task Force (Land) that the Headquarters demonstrated a very high standard of co-ordinated staff work and that the Headquarters appeared as a “happy headquarters with a sense of pride”. In other words a small but effective Headquarters which our Framework and Participating Nations can be very proud of including all additional personnel. And so should you.
Being after an exercise is actually being just in front of an exercise. While writing these words, the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast is conducting the Initial Planning Conference for exercise CRYSTAL EAGLE 06, which will be conducted in WILDFLECKEN, Germany in week 45-46 2006 focussing on Peace Support Operations. Currently, the details are not known, but we know we will conduct the preparatory exercises LITTLE EAGLE I in week 26 of 2006 and LITTLE EAGLE II in week 38 of 2006. And we know for sure that external support is required for these events as well. Intentionally, we will be ready to request this detailed manning support by end of February 2006 enabling us to achieve another success in the Autumn next year.
Once again I want to express my sincere thanks to each and every one of you for the support you have given to the Multinational Corps Northeast in 2005.
With all good wishes for you and your families
