Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) conducted the multinational NATO Exercise Compact Eagle 2005. The exercise took place from October 31th to November 12th, 2005. The HQ of the different formations established their Command Posts in the area of Szczecin as well as in German military training area "Jägerbrück".
The purpose of the exercise was to train Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) in a high intensity warfighting scenario, operational planning, command and control at the tactical level as well as the Corps position in the relation with Land Component Command. Furthermore, the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast trained the Corps’ ability to be transformed into a Peace Support Operation Corps or to support the conflict termination operations. However, the main training objectives for Exercise Compact Eagle 2005 was to ensure that HQ MNC NE would be able to meet all Full Operational Capability (FOC) criteria during the exercise (settled down by the evaluation team from SHAPE). To pass full operational capability was mandatory for MNC NE to be deployed in mission, potentially to Afghanistan as of August 2007 to conduct the 11th Contingent of ISAF - Forces until February/ March 2008.
The exercise was conducted under the command of Lieutenant General Egon Ramms. The following formations participated in the exercise:
