On 24th November 2006, the ceremony of raising the US flag was conducted at the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast. The first US Officer officially started his service at the HQ MNC NE. At the same time the United States became the ninth member-nation of the Headquarters.
Almost at midday, with the accompany of trumpets, the US flag was raised and started to flatter among the flags of Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia. The event proves the rising importance of the HQ MNC NE among the NATO HQ family.
Our new US colleague has been an officer for thirteen years, with the last post at Fort Bragg, one of the biggest American bases in the United States. Except for a short period from about 20 years ago when he visited Europe, the old continent is a mystery for him. He is looking forward to serving at the HQ because it will be the opportunity not only to enrich military experience, but also to learn about the European culture and the way of life.
