The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity organized the annual finale. The Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast also participated in this event.
The main priorities of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (the GOCC) are saving children's lives, health promotion and education in the field of preventive treatment. Between 1993 and 2006 The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity has collected and spent over $65 million for saving lives. This year the GOCC has been organized for the fifteenth time. The funds were gathered for saving lives of children injured in accidents and for providing CPR education (cardiopulmonary resuscitation - a combination of rescue breathing and chest compressions).
The Great Finale is always a nation-wide money gathering. This year 120 000 volunteers collected money in the streets, not to mention accompanying concerts, auctions, or shows. A very special moment was an annual happening involving sending light towards heaven when the spirit of community, friendship and unity was especially visible.
Hundreds of thousand of people involved in The Great Finale make this action one of the most powerful and effective charities in the world. Therefore also the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast wanted to take part in this extraordinary event. In the concert hall uniforms from the nations-members of MNC NE were displayed including uniforms from Estonia, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and the USA.
