From 6th to 17th May, Multinational Corps Northeast altogether with Joint Forces Command Brunssum organized a media trip to Afghanistan. The journalists were to find out about the situation in Afghanistan and to meet MNC NE personnel deployed to ISAF HQ. Currently there are 165 MNC NE soldiers in ISAF HQ in Kabul and they constitute a substantial part of personnel of composite headquarters.
Denmark was represented by Heidi Robdrup, who is a foreign Desk Editor at the Danish national newspaper Nyhedsavisen, and Kim Hundevadt from Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten. Monika Wilczyńska and Jan Kuczera from regional Szczecin TVP 3 were representatives of Polish media. There were also two German journalists: Andreas Flocken from Nord Deutscher Rundfunk and Hans-Joachim Guth from Nordkurier
An interesting programme of the trip included visiting JFC Brunssum and talking to its commander – gen. Egon Ramms, who last year ended his tour of duty as Commander MNC NE and only then heading for Afghanistan. The journalists had an opportunity to observe living conditions inside the camp in Kabul as well as to talk to MNC NE soldiers serving at the HQ ISAF. Moreover, the programme included meeting the people who actually have a real influence upon the ISAF mission in Afghanistan such as Chief of Staff ISAF, Commander Regional Command North or Afghan Senior Adviser to Minister of Defence. Among other attractions there were visiting Kabul military Training Camp, or a typical Afghan village.
MNC NE and JFC Brunnsum hopes that this visit in Afghanistan will contribute to enhancing positive image of MNC NE soldiers serving at HQ ISAF and bring closer the reality of life of soldiers inside the camp as well as promote the ideas of the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
