The main reason for this trip was the presence of about 160 MNC NE personnel in Kabul, who are currently serving at ISAF Headquarters and Regional Air Operations Coordination Centre (RAOCC) in Masar-e-Sharif (MeS).
From 26th May to 2nd June 2007 Lieutenant General Zdzislaw Goral, Commander Multinational Corps Northeast, paid a visit to Afghanistan. The main reason for this trip was the presence of about 160 MNC NE personnel in Kabul, who are currently serving at ISAF Headquarters and Regional Air Operations Coordination Centre (RAOCC) in Masar-e-Sharif (MeS).
A rich programme of the trip included visiting Masar-e-Sharif, where in the sands of the north one of MNC NE soldiers is serving at RAOCC. The Commander also visited Regional Command North and Provincial Reconstruction Team MeS, where he could observe what their ordinary work look like. However, since most of the personnel have been deployed to ISAF Headquarters in Kabul, the Commander spent most of the time in the capital of Afghanistan. The Commander took part not only in official meetings with his personnel but also managed to visit most of them in their ordinary working places in order to shake their hands and ask about their job and life in the camp. In fact this tour round the camp showed real work of our soldiers who are serving in almost all branches of ISAF gaining experience from which they can profit when the mission is over.
In order to raise the situation awareness, as military men keep saying, the Commander visited Regional Command Capital, Kabul, where the talks about the situation in Afghanistan were accompanied with tasting traditional Turkish food, whereas border issues prevailed over discussions in Regional Command East in Bagram.
This situational picture was definitely completed thanks to the meeting with those who actually shape the ISAF policy - Gen. McNeill, Commander ISAF, and Maj. Gen. Robison, Deputy Commander of Stability. Among other personages the Commander had the opportunity to talk to was Maj. Gen. Rodriguez, Commander of Regional Command East and Brig. Gen. Tomaszycki, his Deputy, who is also the Commander of Polish Contingent in Afghanistan, Lt. Gen. Bieniek, NATO Senior Adviser to Afghan National Army, and also Mr. Jacek Najder, Polish Ambassador to Afghanistan.
