From 23rd to 24th October 2007 the 29th meeting of the Corps Committee took place at the Baltic Barracks. Col A. Miściur, who himself used to serve at the Headquarters some years ago, acted as the chairman on behalf of POL Land Forces Command. The Danish side was represented by Col J. Kofoed (DNK Army Operational Command) whereas Col S. Thomas acted on behalf of the German Chief of Army Staff. LtGen Z. Goral, Commander HQ MNC NE, MajGen J.B.Andersen, Deputy Commander HQ MNC NE and LtCol H. Foag, AACOS G-5 participated in the meeting as representatives of the Corps. The chairmen of five working groups were there as well to present their opinions on the Corps-related issues.
The Corps Committee acts on behalf of the three Framework Nations – Denmark, Germany and Poland. The Corps Committee itself consists of 6 persons – the chairman, two co-chairmen and their secretaries. But there are also 21 subworking groups who are partially invited to participate related to the issues to be discussed.
The course of the meeting is usually divided into three main parts; in the first part the members of the Corps Committee meet with the Corps’ Command Group and other Corps’ representatives in order to be updated by the HQs. In the second part of the session, the discussion takes place without the presence of the Command Group – only ACOS G-5 as the Corps Representative to the CC is to participate. During the last part the final agreements are presented to the Command Group.
This meeting was the first one after the Corps has completed its 6-month mission in Afghanistan and the performance of the MNC NE soldiers was extremely positively assessed. The topics raised during this session referred among others to the new Corps’ Peace Establishment (PE) structure, the Command and Control Information System (C2IS) and the Infrastructure Project. The training and exercise cycle for the next years was approved as well.
The next Corps Committee Meeting is going to take place in December this year.
