A busy new year was initiated at Air Operations Co-ordination Centre (AOCC), an air unit subordinate to Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE), when Major General Sławomir Dygnatowski, Commander Air Operations Centre, visited the Corps on 9th January 2008.
The aim of the visit that Major General Sławomir Dygnatowski paid to the Corps was to foster the relationship between Air Operations Co-ordination Centre (AOCC) and Air Operations Centre (AOC) in Warsaw. AOC is a superior formation to the Polish component of Air Operations Co-ordination Centre. It is in fact part of the Polish Air Forces and the Polish provider for air assets, personnel or logistic support for exercises or operations, if it is requested by AOCC.
Both sides were highly satisfied with the visit, fruitful discussions resulted among others in clarifying some open questions such as manning during exercises. As Chief AOCC, Colonel Peter Hauser commented, it was an "operator-to-operator" talk, since both Gen. Dygnatowski and Col. Hauser were trained as pilots of a jet fighter MiG-29 Fulcrum.
Further cooperation between AOC and AOCC will definitely be strengthened. Gen. Dygnatowski already invited Chief AOCC and his staff to visit several Polish Air Force stations. It will be the chance for the AOCC personnel to get acknowledged with Command and Control System of the Polish Air Force.
