To satisfy curiosity and to see how Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast works, forty German Reservists from the Ersatzbattaillon 605 paid a visit to the Baltic Barracks, home of the Headquarters, on 29th February 2008.
Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast always welcomes guests interested in the Corps' history, mission and organisation. LtCol Detlef Schachel introduced the group of German Reservists into all those issues; he also presented the experiences from the latest and – so far – the only mission of the Corps in Afghanistan, which was completed in 2007.
LtCol Carl-Christoph Habeck, the Battalion Commander, explained that the visit to the Corps was part of a longer trip, during which soldiers were among other things to explore some historical sights in Germany and to go sightseeing around Szczecin. Since the functioning of multinational formations like our Headquarters was also considered interesting, the group decided to learn more about our nine-nation Corps. In fact, it is probably one of the last endeavours of that kind for this battalion because it is going to be disbanded in the middle of this year.
