Good sense of cooperation contributed to effective results of the 31st Corps Committee Meeting, which took place from 3rd to 4th March 2008 at the Baltic Barracks.
This Corps Committee Meeting was chaired by German Col S. Thomas, whereas a Pole, BrigGen A. Wojtan and a Dane, Col J. Kofoed were co-chairmen of the Committee. It is important to mention that the Polish representative was for the first time sent by the Polish General Staff instead of the Polish Land Forces Command.
Commander Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Zdzisław Goral expressed his appreciation to the Corps Committee for decisions taken during the previous session in December 2007, which brought milestones in the Corps development. They referred to approving the new Corps peacetime structure, choosing Polish SZAFRAN to be the Corps' Command and Control Information System and taking final decision about building new facilities. In fact all these issues were discussed during this Corps Committee Meeting, too.
Points of interest
The good spirit of cooperation was also seen during this 31st session of the Corps Committee while discussing various Corps-related issues. The current status of the preparation process for the exercise CRYSTAL EAGLE – the most important training endeavour of the year 2008 – was discussed in detail, including the results brought by two reconnaissance teams to the place of the exercise, planning conferences and a recently accomplished exercise COOL GASKET.
SZAFRAN, the new Corps Command and Control Information System is expected to be the story of success, therefore, the implementation process being in line with the schedule was positively received. Also the development of the Headquarters concept referring to its operational structure brought a lot of attention during the session. Finally, the progress of the Infrastructure Project was on the agenda, too.
The next meeting of the Corps Committee is going to take place in June.
