It will take 480 days to build a new facility at the Baltic Barracks. The construction works were officially inaugurated on 6th June 2008.
The official inauguration of building a new facility took place right at the constriction site. Among the guests there were Jerzy Sidorczuk, a Vice Chairman of the consortium INEKO, which is realizing the whole project, LtCol. Ireneusz Michoń, a Deputy Chief of the Regional Infrastructure Bureau, members of the Corps Committee, a supervisory and advisory body for the Corps, and from the Corps side – the Commander Multinational Corps Northeast LtGen. Zdzisław Goral, his Deputy MajGen. Ole Køppen and Chief of Staff BrigGen. Josef Heinrichs. Chiefs of G-Divisions and Senior National Officers were also present in the ceremony.
Commander MNC NE LtGen. Goral welcomed all the guests and introduced them to the concept of the new building and the schedule of its construction. The Corps’ chaplain LtCol. Ryszard Stępień blessed the building site and workers that are contributing to the construction of the new Corps’ facility. Afterwards, the Commander initiated building of the facility by a symbolic act of laying its foundations. The gathered guests followed the Commander.
The new multifunctional facility will house among other things office surface for the Command Group and an auditorium, which is extremely needed for the Corps. It will be used during for example trainings, exercises, visits or social events. Sliding walls will enable appropriate adaptation to the exact Corps’ needs. As a result, up to 600 people will be able to work in the auditorium and adjacent rooms at the same time.
