The final score of matches of the Baltic Barracks Indoor Soccer League was finally adjudicated. "Level Fourteen" climbed the podium and won the Cup. A prize giving ceremony took place on 12th June 2008 at the Non-Commissioned Officers’ Club.
Corps’ Cup
There were altogether seven multinational teams taking part in games of the Indoor Soccer League. Some of them were friends from a given G-Division, other were colleagues from different sections who enjoy playing together. Matches started in January 2008 and were played between all teams, in each case a rematch was organised. Closely fought games eventually enabled choosing the best team, which turned out to be "Level Fourteen". Two remaining places on the podium were occupied by "Beer Drinkers" and "G-3 Eagles".
The prize giving ceremony took place at the Non-Commissioned Officers’ Club. The Corps’ Chief of Staff Brigadier General Josef Heinrichs thanked the players for maintaining and developing multinational and sports spirit within the MNC NE personnel. After the official part, all players broke team divisions and spend some time together discussing results of the Indoor Soccer League and the current European Championship 2008.
No time for resting on laurel
The Corps’ soccer team has got a busy time even though the matches of the Indoor Soccer League have just been accomplished. It is related to preparations for today’s friendly match with the team from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). For the Corps’ soccer team the challenge is twofold. First of all, it is the first time when the team from SHAPE visits Szczecin to play a match. Previous meetings between those teams took place during tournaments organised by SHAPE. The second challenge is related to the fact that the Corps’ team does not often play on full-size pitch with 11-person team. The last time a match on similar conditions was played with a team from Loecknitz, Germany, in May 2008.
