To celebrate the name day of the friendliest person to children – Saint Nicolas, about 130 children came to the Baltic Barracks to spend the chilly afternoon of December 2nd, 2008 in a really warm atmosphere.
The Ladies’ Club, whose members are spouses of soldiers serving at the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast, wanted to see faces of children beaming in joy and organised the Saint Nicolas Party. All children of the Headquarters’ personnel were invited to take part in this event. The number of about 130 young participants exceeded even the organisers’ expectations, as admitted Mrs Christina Stolp, a chairman of the Ladies’ Club.
A music band was waiting for all children. The children could not only dance to the music, but also sing karaoke versions of their favourite songs and take part in competitions specially prepared for them. Foresighted mothers prepared cakes and other goodies, hot dogs and drinks in case the children felt hungry. Of the attractions was the performance of children from the Szczecin International School, who presented modern dance.
A big surprise for the children was a visit of the real Saint Nicolas with four assistants. Each child received a small gift from him. It was something sweet to make the time till Christmas comes nicer.
