A group of 16 members of the European Reserve Non-Commissioned Officers Association from Denmark, Germany and Poland visited the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast on October 25th, 2008 to see how it is to be a non-commissioned officer in the multinational environment.
This visit to the Headquarters was part of a bigger programme, namely a reserve seminar held in Strausberg, Germany. 16 NCOs took part in a briefing delivered by Major Aleksandras Petrulis. They listened about the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast, its mission, history and structure.
After lunch and a short excursion through the Baltic Barracks, another part of informative briefings was conducted. This time it was non-commissioned officers focused. Sergeant Major Norbert Speicher discussed the course of Mission Preparation Training of multinational staff in general. Afterwards, Sergeant Major Speicher together with Sergeant Major Michael Froslev as Senior National NCOs presented their experiences and impressions about duty and life at the Headquarters ISAF, as both of them served in Afghanistan during the Corps’ mission in 2007. “We drew a picture of Kabul, the Headquarters ISAF and how it was to live and work there”, said Sergeant Major Speicher. “We also talked about multinationalism, language challenges and different approaches presented of NCOs at the Headquarters ISAF”, he added.
When the briefings and all discussions came to an end, the guests set off for a seightseeing tour in Szczecin, a home garrison for the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast. They were accompanied by both Sergeant Majors and Major Kim Nielsen. They visited the most beautiful, but also important places in Szczecin, they listened about Szczecin’s turbulent history and had a chance to see its current developments.
