
The Crown Prince of Denmark His Royal Highness Frederik André Henrik Christian and the Danish Minister of Defense Søren Gade paid a visit to the Multinational Corps Northeast on the 21st and 22nd of September to acquaint with the HQ preparations for Afghanistan deployment in January 2007.
The honored guests were welcomed by the Commander of HQ MNC NE, Lieutenant General Egon Ramms, the Deputy Commander of HQ MNC NE, Major General Jan Brun Andersen and by the Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Henryk Skarżyński. The Headquarters received the Crown Prince and the minister with all due ceremony such as playing the national anthem and reviewing a military guard of honor.
One of the main points of the 2-day visit was familiarization with the Command Post Exercise FAT EAGLE 2006, which prepares the personnel for Afghanistan mission, where they will be part of ISAF Composite Command in Kabul. In special briefings the Crown Prince and the Defense Minister received information’s about the HQ MNCNE and its “Road To Afghanistan.”
The Crown Prince spent 7 years in the army, before becoming a Royal Danish Navy Frogman (equivalent to Special Boat Service – Royal Marines, or US Navy Seals). He was also serving in the Royal Danish Air Force flying F-16s. Also the Minister has a military background and was previously designated to the Corps as a Major in the Reserves.
