On 23rd October 2006 a group of journalists visited HQ MNC NE. The Information Centre of the Ministry of Defence of Poland organized this trip and gave accreditation to a group of journalists coming from different countries, including Belgium, China, Canada, Egypt, France, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine and United States.
During the official part of the visit, Lieutenant General Egon Ramms, the Commander of the Corps, gave a briefing on HQ. The visitors listened to the history, structure and foundation documents of HQ MNC NE. They learned about the tasks of HQ, as well as specific exercises, projects and operational certificates. Especially the upcoming mission in Afghanistan aroused understandable interest among the journalists. Apart from strictly military topics, Lieutenant General Ramms emphasized multinational character of this smallest Corps of NATO, various pictures illustrated cultural life of the HQ members and their families.
Due to this meeting the journalists learned a lot about HQ MNC NE. "Our knowledge on the matter was rather limited", said one of the journalists. However, they had also the opportunity to exchange their experiences and impressions about Poland. Some of them have never been to Poland before, like for example a Hungarian journalist, Katalin Halmai. Magdy Yourssef, working for the Egyptian TV, would like to come back to Poland as a tourist, to this ‘completely European country’, to see famous Warsaw and other places. David Rennie, a journalist from Great Britain, was rather interested in Polish participation in the upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.
The visit to HQ was just a part of the journalists’ stay in Poland but the presence of HQ MNC NE in the schedule proves the importance of the Corps.
