Almost 70 Polish students visited Baltic Barracks on 19 and 20 February 2009 to learn about the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) and what it is like to be a soldier in a multinational unit.
The first group of 51 students from the High Schools Complex in Kalisz Pomorski, accompanied by their teachers, covered about 100 km to enter Baltic Barracks in Szczecin. They were warmly welcomed and took part in a briefing delivered by Major Marcin Walczak from the Public Affairs Office. They were introduced to the idea of the Corps’ mission, history and structure, which were described in an accessible way. Major Walczak emphasized a multinational aspect of the Headquarters and the issue of integration, too. The students were also encouraged to visit the new MNC NE website, launched in January, which was presented during the briefing. The guests asked questions among other things about a soldier’s profession and the mission in Afghanistan.
The second group of students from the Technical Schools Complex in Szczecin visited the Headquarters on the subsequent day. They followed the same programme getting acquainted with the Corps and its daily activities.
