More than 30 teachers and future teachers of politics visited the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) in Szczecin on 13 March 2009.
The trip was organised by the German Youth Officers’ Organisation, which promotes the ideas related to the German Armed Forces, security and politics. Therefore, it is very important for the Corps that teachers who afterwards shape young people’s opinions want to learn more about the Corps in Szczecin, a truly multinational formation in which soldiers from ten nations serve together. In fact, a multinational character of the Corps as well as integration within the local community interested our visitors most, as a leader of the group Dr Jakob Runker said.
The teachers coming from Kassel in Germany took part in a briefing delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Detlef Schachel, Chief of the Visitors and Observers Bureau. They got acquainted with the Corps’ history, structure and tasks, including the mission in Afghanistan, in which HQ MNC NE personnel participated in 2007. Afterwards, there was a question-and-answer phase during which they could learn even more about the Corps.
The visit to the HQ constitutes a part of a four-day seminar, during which the teachers also visited, for example, the German Ministry of Defence.
