Deputy Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) Major General Ole Køppen took part in the Distinguished Visitors’ Day during the Steadfast Joint – Gordon Knot exercise, organised by the NATO Deployable Corps – Greece. The exercise took place from 21 March to 3 April 2009 in Balanica camp in Litochoro, Greece.
1,200 soldiers from 15 nations took part in this Command Post Exercise, the aim of which was to train planning and execution of a Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) type operation based on a Peace Support Operation (PSO) scenario.
About 60 Distinguished Visitors from sister corps, other commands and representatives of several NATO countries, but also Serbia or Georgia and many others visited the exercise area in the Balanica Camp on 31 March 2009. As Major General Ole Køppen representing MNC NE said, the visitors took part in a briefing on the NATO Deployable Corps – Greece, which was very interesting. Moreover, all visitors could learn a lot about the exercise itself during a walk around the exercise area.
It was not the first this kind of duty trip for Major General Køppen. But, as he said "It is always very important to show interest in the activities of other corps". "And I can learn quite a lot by listening to and participating in discussions during such meetings. Besides, we all get to know each other and this makes things easier", he added.
