Members of the Danish Engineer Regiment spent three days from 29 April to 1 May 2009 in Szczecin. One of the most important points in their itinerary was a visit to the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE).
It was quite a unique group of guests especially for MNC NE Deputy Commander Major General Ole Køppen, who was the commander of that unit in Denmark. The visitors learnt about the Corps – its structure, tasks and mission in Afghanistan from a briefing delivered by General Køppen. Additionally, Captain Thomas Hesselholt presented purely national matters and talked about service and living in Szczecin of Danish soldiers and their families.
Apart from visiting the Headquarters, the Danes had a chance to see Szczecin, the home garrison of the Corps. They took part in not only a sightseeing tour, which presented the beauty of Szczecin, but also went to an underground museum, or more specifically an anti-aircraft and anti-atomic shelter, one of the most interesting places in the city.
