Multinational Corps Northeast

On 6 and 7 May 2009, almost 100 students of Szczecin University took part in a briefing on Multinational Corps Northeast.

On the initiative of Dr Grzegorz Ciechanowski, lecturer of Szczecin University, the HQ MNC NE representative Major Marcin Walczak from the Public Affairs Office delivered a special briefing. The aim of it was to introduce the idea of the Multinational Corps Northeast to students of the 1st and 2nd year of the National Security from the Chair of Conflict and Peace Researches. Major Walczak talked about the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and the necessity of having armed forces at all. Then, he presented the history, structure and main task of the Corps, the Headquarters of which is located in Szczecin. Also the mission in Afghanistan, in which MNC NE soldiers participated in 2007, was discussed. After the briefing, all students could ask questions to learn more about the Corps itself or any other army-related issues. As befits students studying politics and military related subject, they asked, among other things, about current developments within NATO and its relations to non-NATO countries.
