"They all pull on one string" – was the essence impression about the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) expressed by representatives of the Infrastructure Department East of the German Armed Forces, who visited the Headquarters on 14 May 2009.
The Infrastructure Department located in Stausberg, as Colonel Karl Torn and Captain Jürgen Werner explained, is responsible for the overall building infrastructure for the German Armed Forces. Therefore, the visitors were very much interested in working conditions in Baltic Barracks, which they assessed positively. However, the real aim of the visit, apart from learning about the Corps, was observing ongoing preparations for the exercise Little Eagle scheduled for the end of May. More specifically, the visitors wanted to see the equipment of the German 610th Signal Battalion, which on a permanent basis is located in Prenzlau. As they said, they needed to get some feedback on what kind of infrastructure the soldiers might need at their home barracks with regard to all military equipment they possess.
Obviously, a part of the visit was also presenting the idea of the Multinational Corps Northeast to the guests. Among other things, they learnt about the Corps’ history, organisation and mission from a briefing delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Detlef Schachel, Chief of the Visitors and Observers Bureau.
