Multinational Corps Northeast

Members of the Association of Defense and Security Policy from two regions: Frankenberg (Eder) and Lippe - Detmold visited Multinational Corps Northeast on 10 and 11 August 2009. 

About 45 Germans divided into two groups followed the same briefing delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Detlef Schachel, Chief of Visitors and Observers Bureau, who presented Corps’ history, mission and tasks. As the name of the organization shows, issues connected with Corps’ security and defense policy as well as its contribution to mission in Afghanistan was high in the guests’ agenda. What is more, as Manfred Weider, Deputy Section Head from Frankenberg, mentioned: "Apart from professional issues, very interesting for us was part of briefing when Lieutenant Colonel told us about social life in the Corps, about integration between Poles and Germans, showed the Corps as a family."

Association of Defense and Security Policy is an organization which consists of people from all social stratums in different age who, to become a member, have to fulfill conditions of membership, for example commitment to the rule of law and liberal democratic basics and recognition of the objectives of the Association. Main objectives of the Association are to inform public about security and issues related to the army, to promote education in fields of security and defense policy and also to enhance understanding of global political, economic and ecological contexts in connection with security aspects. To achieve its goals the Association organizes lectures, seminars, missions, troop visits and symposia for public, for example people from world of politics, science etc.

After the briefing all guests were invited to eat lunch in the Headquarters canteen and to take memorial photo, which was given to them during farewell in the end of the visit.
