The 36th Corps Committee Meeting (CCM) took place on 18 and 19 August 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A meeting usually consists of three parts: the first session (Part 1) where main topics are presented to the Corps Committee by the Corps’ representatives, the second session (Part 2) during which the Corps Committee members have their internal discussion. During the final session (Part 3) decisions and guidance are presented as the result of the Corps Committee Meeting.
During this meeting a large number of important issues were discussed. Among them there were: a status of the Mission Preparation Process for the mission in Afghanistan in 2010 and a revision of the Training & Exercise calendar for 2011. Moreover, members of the Corps Committee and the Corps discussed a possible affiliation of multinational units to the Corps from different nations willing to contribute to the MNC NE. The new MNC NE Medical Concept also gained approval during the meeting. The 10th Anniversary Celebrations were presented to the Corps Committee members and the way ahead was drawn. Finally, the construction process of a new building in Baltic Barracks was presented, which will be finished by the time of the Corps' 10th Anniversary.
All in all, the Corps Committee meeting finished with considerable success – all proposals and solutions were approved.
Conducting the Corps Committee meeting in Copenhagen was a great opportunity to get to know something more about Danish culture. The Corps’ representatives took part in a cultural program during which they visited the harbour site, the Danish Army Academy and participated in a bus-guided tour around the city.
The next Corps Committee meeting will take place in November 2009 in Szczecin, Baltic Barracks.
