Best photographs illustrating milestones in the history of Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE), glass cases presenting Corps- and mission-related mementos and gadgets as well as battledress uniforms from all 11 countries contributing to the Corps are elements of the latest display opened at Szczecin National Museum on 10 September 2009. The exhibition will last till 10 October.
A lot of people took part in the official vernissage opening this unique exhibition at Szczecin National Museum. Among them there were Mayor’s plenipotentiary for Security Szczepan Stępiński, Vice Marshal Witold Jabłoński, representatives of the Museum, Commander Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Zdzisław Goral, his Deputy Commander Major General Ole Køppen, Senior National Representatives from the counties represented in the Corps as well as other guests.
At 12 sharp, Director of the Museum Mr Lech Karwowski and Commander Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Zdzisław Goral welcomed all the gathered. Mr Karwowski expressed his satisfaction resulting from the effective cooperation between the Museum and the Corps. "It has been the Corps’ initiative and I would like to thank for this interesting exhibition organised here", Mr Karwowski said. Commander MNC NE was very fond of the possibility to display mementos related to the Corps in such a prestigious place the National Museum definitely is. "The exhibition presents the Corps’ heritage from 10 years of its functioning", he explained. "Through such undertakings we would like to present more information about the Corps to all inhabitants of Szczecin and those who come here just for a visit", he added.
Worth seeing
"Multinational Corps Northeast – 10 years of success" will definitely serve its informational role. It presents all characteristic marks of the Corps including flags of all 11 countries contributing to the Corps as well as the NATO flag since the Headquarters has its permanent place within the NATO Force Structure.
As a matter of fact, everybody would find something interesting in the exhibition. Those who enjoy the art of photography can see a selection of best photos divided into four main categories, such as history, training and exercises, visits to the Headquarters and integration. Those who prefer exhibit items will have a chance to see a collection of various mementos and gadgets related to the Corps. A very unique showpiece is a flag of Headquarters Allied Land Forces Schleswig-Holstein and Jutland, a predecessor of Multinational Corps Northeast.
A real treat is definitely the section devoted to the mission in Afghanistan the Headquarters’ soldiers participated in 2007. It includes photographs, mementos as well as battledress uniforms of all 11 Corps’ nations. An unforgettable view will definitely be a splendid panorama of Kabul in Afghanistan.
