A new multifunctional building named "Brussels" was officially opened in Baltic Barracks in Szczecin, home of Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast on 19 September 2009.
The opening ceremony was honoured with presence of Danish Minister of Defence His Excellency Mr Søren Gade, Polish Minister of Defence His Excellency Mr Bogdan Klich and Lithuanian Minister of Defence Her Excellency Ms Rasa Juknevićiené, Vice Voivode of West Pomeranian Voivodeship Andrzej Chmielewski as well as other honourable guests of the world of politics and military. Commander Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) Lieutenant General Zdzisław Goral welcomed all guests who gathered at the ceremony. He introduced them to the history of Baltic Barracks and explained the need for constructing a new building. As the Commander said, the building process lasted more than a year but, in the end, the Headquarters gained a new multifunctional building containing additional office space, an auditorium with 200 seating as well as rooms for work in syndicates during exercises.
It is important to add that the new building has also received a name, just like other buildings in Baltic Barracks called after e.g. the capitals of Denmark, Germany and Poland. The new building has been named "Brussels" to honour the hometown of the NATO Headquarters and in this way to symbolize the North-Atlantic cooperation.
Details about the new building were presented by Lieutenant Colonel Bogdan Dobrowolski, Chief of the Headquarters Support. Among other things, he said about layout, functions the building will perform and costs of the construction.

The most important moment of the ceremony was ribbon cutting done together by MNC NE Commander Lieutenant General Zdzisław Goral, Danish Minister of Defence His Excellency Mr Søren Gade, Polish Minister of Defence Mr Bogdan His Excellency Klich, Lithuanian Minister of Defence His Excellency Ms Rasa Juknevićiené, Deputy Chief of the German Army Lieutenant General Günter Weiler and Vice Voivode of West Pomeranian Voivodeship Andrzej Chmielewski.
