Everybody could easily feel the real spring and the Easter atmosphere on Sunday, 28 March 2010. The Family Care Centre invited the families of the personnel of the Multinational Corps Northeast deployed to Afghanistan as well as members of the Garrison Headquarters and their families for the Easter Brunch and prepared lots of attractions.
The families gathered at the Allied Officers' Club around 10:00 in the morning. The children were especially curious what this Sunday might bring. The Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Rainer Korff warmly welcomed the families. "I am happy to see so many participants. Thank you for being here," he said. He also congratulated Mrs Waldow on becoming a grandmother and gave her a beautiful bouquet of flowers. A little girl was born at the beginning of March.
Afterwards, there was common breakfast during which families from different nations were sitting together and chatting. A month has passed since the last common meeting of the families at the Club took place and a lot has happened since then.
A huge attraction for the children was the Easter Egg Hunt. All treasure hunters with flushed cheeks went to the Jutland Garden looking for treats that were hidden in different places. There was a lot of joy when the treasure was finally found.
The highlight of the event was the videoconference with the servicemen from Afghanistan who were very eager to experience a little bit of Easter atmosphere. Although the families and the servicemen will not spend this Easter in one place, they will definitely be together spiritually.
