A group of about 100 officer cadets visited the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) on 9 April 2010 to learn more about the Corps.
The officer cadets coming from the German Army Officers School in Dresden took part in the briefing delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Lothar Hoffmann. The guests learned among other things about the Corps’ history and tasks as well as the training and exercise cycle. Lieutenant Colonel Hoffmann also focused on the mission of the Corps’ personnel in Afghanistan in 2007 and the ongoing deployment to the mission area.
After the briefing, the Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Rainer Korff addressed all the students and their instructors. Instead of a long speech, the MNC NE Commander chose to talk to officer cadets. The first person that asked General Korff a question received the Commander’s coin as a kind of encouragement for vivid discussion, which took place indeed. More questions referred to, for instance, lessons learned from the mission and their implementation into the training and exercises.
As soon as the MNC NE Commander finished answering the questions from the guests, the leader of the delegation Lieutenant Colonel Kron handed over the crest to General Korff as a memento of the visit. He also thanked for warm welcome and a very informative briefing. In fact, another one was delivered after the Commander’s address by Lieutenant Colonel Ekkehardt von Holzendorf.
The officer cadets from Dresden are currently preparing for the sports competition between army, navy and air force cadets. The visit to the HQ MNC NE and Szczecin was in fact a break from the training conducted in Torgelow, Germany.
