The families of servicemen deployed to Afganistan and other members of the Garrison Headquarters met during another event organised by the Family Care Centre on Saturday, 19 June 2010. This time, apart from common dinner and games for children, the Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Rainer Korff shared his personal impressions of Afghanistan gained during his recent trip to Kabul.
"It was good to be there with our deployers," the Commander told to all families gathered at the Non-Commissioned Officers' Club where a series of photos from the visit was displayed. All families were trying to identify their husbands and fathers in photos. General Korff explained the reasons he has been to Afghanistan and talked a lot about living and working conditions of the MNC NE servicemen. General Korff managed to meet almost all MNC NE staff members;"to meet them and talk to them was my main point of effort," he stressed. The Commander also added they were all in good mood waiting for the end of the mission.
The rest of the Family Care event followed a well-known schedule - excellent dinner with grilled food and drinks, and entertainment for the youngest members of the Headquarters. The biggest attraction for the children was a game with different tasks to be completed in the shortest time possible. The winners received special trophies to blow soap bubbles.
