For the 15th time when the Family Care Centre organised a common even for the families of the personnel deployed to Afghanistan, members of the Garrison Headquarters and their families as well as invited guests. The summer party took place on 25 June 2010 in Baltic Barracks.
The Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Rainer Korff welcomed all participants that gathered at the Jutland Garden in Baltic Barracks. He thanked special guests: the Director and teachers of the Szczecin International School for the school year which has just come to an end. The Commander also called for an applause that could be sent to Kabul straight to the members of the Multinational Corps Northeast. “Enjoy the time with us being integrated within the NATO family,” General Korff said and invited everybody for common barbecue.
With the very fine weather and excellent moods, the children set off for an adventure in the Jutland Garden and found a lot of attractions. There were huge inflatable toys which were of interest of every single adventurer. For many kids a must was candyfloss on sticks which took on different colours: blue, pink or green. The nannies were taking care of the youngest members of the Headquarters. Whereas the adults eagerly were hiding themselves under tents or garden umbrellas and having nice chats.
“Seven months of Family Care was a busy time but it was really a nice time. All in all we had 15 bigger events and more than 1700 participants,” said Lieutenant Colonel Siegmar “Siggi” Plonka, Chairman of the Family Care Centre. In fact, it was the last social event of this kind organised by the Centre. The remaining time until the end of the mission will be spent on daily routine activities. “The doors of the Family Care Centre are open,” invited Lieutenant Colonel Plonka. He also added that he and his team would take care of the families as long as the last servicemen comes back home. The Commander awarded the whole team of the Family Care Centre with special Commander’s Coins as recognition of their high performance.
