The Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Rainer Korff as well as the servicemen of the Corps’ three Framework Nations – Danish Major Bjarke Therkildsen, German Captain Claus Christian Vogel and Polish Lieutenant Colonel Waldemar Torbicki took part in the ceremony at the Central Cemetery in Szczecin held on 20 September 2010.
The ceremony commemorated events related to the Soviet aggression on Poland in 1939 and deportations of Polish citizens. Delegations representing families of the fallen and deported, municipal and regional authorities, the uniformed services, veterans’ associations, schools and inhabitants of Szczecin as well as the delegation from the Corps laid wreaths at the Katyń Cross Memorial at the Central Cemetery in Szczecin. The prayer was said by the bishop Błażej Kruszyłowicz.
