The Deputy Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) Major General Ryszard Sorokosz visited the “Black Bear ’10” exercise, held in Ðakovo, Croatia, from 13 to 22 September 2010.
More than 300 soldiers and military policemen from the Croatian, Czech, Polish and Slovak Military Police units forming the Multinational Military Police Battalion took part in the exercise. Since the Battalion is planning to affiliate with the Multinational Corps Northeast in the future, it was of the Corps interest to see the development of the unit. As a matter of fact, the Battalion is currently undergoing an evaluation process in terms of compliance with the NATO standards.
In this particular exercise, units of military police trained procedures used in peace operations while countering terrorism. The scenario was about bringing the situation under control in a fictional country engulfed by an uprising. General Sorokosz and other guests participating in the Distinguished Visitors’ Day on 21 September, not only learnt about main objectives of the exercise and the level of training reached by the Battalion, but also watched a display of equipment used by the units. “Exercises of this kind provide an excellent opportunity to integrate various nations in combined efforts and actions,” underlined General Sorokosz being really fond of his participation in the exercise.
