On 18 and 19 November 2010, non-commissioned officers (NCOs) of the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) took part in an educational programme.
On the first day of the training the NCOs met Command Sergeant Major Joint Force Command Brunssum Chief Warrant Officer Dave W. Preere who provided them with most current facts about Joint Force Command Brunssum and the new strategy signed by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe and the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation referring to non-commissioned officers in NATO. “It was a great opportunity to address the senior NCOs here, to articulate what the strategy is,” Chief Warrant Officer Dave W. Preere said. He underlined the importance of all NCOs being members of the team supporting the chain of command. As he explained, the strategy “gives a common view of what we are because each nation has a different perspective, so the strategy complements the national way of doing things and sort of not create standards but create an idea that these are the general expectations of NCOs.” Chief Warrant Officer Preere admitted that NCOs raised interesting questions in the discussion being especially inquisitive about the impact the new Command Structure on NCOs. “I think you have the NCOs well articulated experienced and motivated that are energized to do a lot more!” he said already after the briefing.

The next part of the training referred to drawing lessons learned and lessons identified from the ISAF deployment which will be the NCO’s contribution to already gathered Headquarters’ lessons learned from the recently accomplished mission in Afghanistan. The last part of the educational programme touched upon current developments within the national armed forces.
