On 9th – 10th February 2011, Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) conducted the first biannual Training and Exercise Coordinating Conference and pre Initial Planning Conference for Exercise Crystal Eagle 2012 at the Baltic Barracks, Szczecin, Poland.
Training and Exercise Conference serves as the best annual starting point for planning and scheduling all training events for the present and upcoming years. It also gives a chance to discuss possible changes, come up with new undertakings and agree upon all updates.
The conference chaired by Lieutenant Colonel Olaf Werner, Chief Training and Exercise Branch, with representatives from the Danish Army Operational Command, 12th Polish Mechanized Division, Headquarters of 12th German Brigade, 2nd Polish Brigade, 2nd Danish Brigade, Polish Military Police Command, Multinational Military Police Battalion, 9th Polish Reconnaissance Regiment, Slovenian representatives from Force Command and 18th Nuclear Biological Chemical Battalion as well as from Command Support Brigade (CSB) allowed to discuss and agree on mid- and long term Training and Exercise issues in the process of materializing the Commander Multinational Corps Northeast’s Guidance 2011 and Vision 2015 into concrete Training and Exercise Lines of Operation.
The Multinational Corps Northeast exercises cycle 2011/2012 includes exercises Little Eagle I in March 2011, Little Eagle II in September 2011, Little Eagle III in March 2012, and will culminate in Multinational Corps Northeast’s next major exercise Crystal Eagle to be conducted in Denmark in May 2012. The purpose of that training event will be to train nominated formations of the MNC NE Framework Nations (Denmark, Germany and Poland) and Participating States (the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the United States) in full spectrum Crisis Response Operations with the overall purpose to maintain and keep high standards on training and exercise activities.
The pre Initial Planning Conference was the first opportunity for representatives of the training audience (TA) for the exercise Crystal Eagle to meet hence they were informed about the current preparation status as well as about upcoming planning efforts and steps to be taken towards that endeavour.
With a very fruitful outcome, both events successfully started long and demanding preparation and coordination process leading to the major MNC NE training event.
