On 2 March 2011, during a ceremony held in Baltic Barracks, Captain Wojciech Wiczyński was appointed the Commander of the Polish National Support Element (NSE) and promoted to the rank of Major.
The ceremony itself brought a lot of changes. Along with appointing Major Wiczyński the Commander of the Polish NSE, he was released from duty as Commander of HQ Coy. He took over duties from Captain Marcin Przybylski who had been the acting Commander of Polish NSE for the last eight months. The new acting Commander of HQ Coy, on the other hand, became 1st Lieutenant Radosław Ambroziak.
Since the Polish NSE and HQ Coy are direct subordinates to CSB, the CSB Commander addressed the outgoing and new commanders of both units. “Promoting a soldier to a higher rank and appointing to a new, higher post summarizes a certain stage in a soldier's life, summarizes all the achievements, and proves the recognition of efforts by the superiors,” said Colonel Jarosław Mika to Major Wiczyński, mentioning his sterling work and exemplary service. “It is also the achievement of people you have been commanding,” he added. “As the CSB Commander, I would like to congratulate you very much,” he said.
Colonel Mika also referred to Captain Przybylski who had been the acting Commander of the Polish NSE for the last couple of months. “Being the acting Commander is the most difficult job, especially when the tasks assigned refer to receiving an inspection,” he said.
Colonel Mika addressed 1st Lieutenant Ambroziak, Major Wiczyński's successor, too, with the words: “I reckon the HQ Coy under your command will fulfil all the tasks assigned at the same high level established by Major Wiczyński.”
Afterwards, Captain Przybylski was given the opportunity to address the personnel of the Polish NSE and other guests of the ceremony: “Achieving very good results from an inspection the Polish NSE has recently underwent proves high level of commitment of the whole personnel,” said Captain Przybylski. "It was a huge challenge but also pleasure to be the acting Commander of the NSE,” he said wishing soldier's good luck to a new Commander.
For Major Wiczyński, who started his service at Baltic Barracks in 2005 as the Commander of HQ Coy, it was a very special day indeed. “Service at HQ Coy was a huge challenge for me,” he said. “I am very glad that I have managed to fulfil all the tasks assigned at such a level that is satisfying for my superiors and myself. But I would not be able to make it without a good team. There are no good commanders without good soldiers,” he stressed. “Wearing the HQ Coy badge is a real source of honour, continue to wear it with pride,” Major Wiczyński said hoping that the cooperation between the soldiers of HQ Coy and the new acting Commander would be as fruitful as his own experiences. Major Wiczyński did not forget to mention his new subordinates: ”I will be demanding but fair,” he said and reassured his superiors that all tasks assigned to the Polish NSE will be fulfilled.
„Major Wiczyński set the bar high. There is hard work ahead of us. Referring to the wisdom of the previous Commander, professionalism of the subordinates and my own experience I can reassure that all tasks assigned will be realized in a timely manner and in accordance with the guidelines given by the superiors,” said the last speaker, 1st Lieutenant Ambroziak starting his tour of duty as the acting Commander of HQ Coy.
