It is already a tradition that the Danish National Support Element of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) arranges a Newcomers’ Weekend during which the inbound Danish families arriving this year are introduced to the Danish community living in Szczecin. Last weekend, from 25 to 27 March 2011, this cyclical event took place in Szczecin.
During the weekend from 25 to 27 March, five Danish families came to Szczecin in order to find houses, get acquainted with Szczecin International School, get introduced to countless rules, regulations and possibilities concerning moving to another country, meeting the residing Danish community and get a first hand impression of Szczecin. A busy program ended with dinner for the entire Danish community at the Allied Officers Club on Saturday evening.
Between April and September these five families will respectively replace five other Danish families who are having end of tour this year. Lieutenant Colonel Carsten Boje, his wife and 3 children are one of the families about to start a new life in Szczecin. Lieutenant Colonel Boje and his family are looking very much forward to becoming a part of the great “MNC NE family” for the next years. Lieutenant Colonel Boje is bringing great NATO and international work experience with him as well as operative experience from Afghanistan and Kosovo and is looking forward to using his knowledge gained in missions in his future job. Work wise he is expecting a challenging and exciting job in an international environment.
Mrs. Boje expressed her happiness of coming to Szczecin; she is looking forward to living in a large and vibrant city close to the sea, Berlin and Denmark. She as well as her husband are expecting to meet new friends and experience more of Poland of which they have already a very good impression.
