From 13 to 15 May 2011, the Allied Ladies Club organised an excursion to Gdańsk.
On the route we stopped in Sopot. We were walking along the beach, the pier and main streets of the city. We found a “crooked house” – one of the Sopot’s attractions. Then we moved to Gdańsk where after we had accommodated ourselves, we went for supper and night sightseeing.
On the second day, after breakfast, we discovered the most beautiful corners of Gdańsk together with a local guide. During three hours of walking, we saw a huge number of monuments: the Gdansk’s Crane, relicts over the Motława, Green Gate, Artus mansion, Neptun fountain, Long Market, Basilica Mariacka and we had a tour of the Solidarity Museum. All ladies were impressed by the last place which brought history of New Poland forward to ladies from outside Poland. Later on, during our free time, we admired pretty jewellery with ambers, the brand of Gdansk’s craftsmen. At the end of that long day, sitting around a table, we shared our impressions and tasted delicacies during common supper.
On the third day, because of the rain we were not able to realize the last part of our program – the dunes in Łeba (or maybe we simply postponed for the next occasion).
Our trip was really successful; we saw unique monuments of Gdańsk, one of the most beautiful cities in Poland, feeling a little bit more relaxed and integrated within our group of Allied Ladies Club. And when we came back to Baltic Barracks, our husbands were waiting for us.
