Another season of the Szczecin Soccer League for soccer teams of Szczecin and the West Pomeranian region has been ongoing. Several teams from Szczecin companies, various organizations and associations play for fun but also for trophies and promotions to the higher league.
One of the biggest and most active Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) sports branches – the Soccer Branch – has decided to take the challenge and join in the competition. The HQ MNC NE team consists of players from the Headquarters itself as well as members from the German and Polish National Support Elements and the Headquarters Company. As a matter of fact, it has been the second time already since the Baltic Barracks players play in the League. There is no surprise that the name of the team is “HQ MNC NE”. The team has been doing extremely well; after the first round of games with only one match lost, the team has taken the lead in the group and is fighting in the second round to stay at the top of the table.
Szczecin Soccer League is a competition for amateurs, gathering around 400 sports fans, soccer in particular. Even though it is an amateur association, there are many soccer players in the League who are actually professionally or semi-professionally connected with sport. All the contestants play on the pitch, which is one-third of a regular soccer pitch size, can feel the atmosphere of professional competitions and play with the best teams from the West Pomeranian region.
Friends, co-workers, students, members of bigger and smaller companies form teams that play in the League, which provide an interesting opportunity to meet people from very different professions. The HQ MNC NE team proves that also the soldiers from the multinational society can form a team that can be successful and competitive outside the Barracks. At the same time, it is a great opportunity to strengthen the relationships among all the multinational team members, having the same hobby.
