On 17 June 2011, a group of students of the Junior High School No 34 from Szczecin visited Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) to familiarize with the Corps’ history, tasks and organisation.
The best students from the Junior High School No 34 located in Szczecin from the media and European studies class were awarded for their achievements with the opportunities to further widen their knowledge within the area of functioning of multinational institutions in Szczecin. On the request of a Polish teacher Mrs Koleta Juryś-Pietraszko who leads the media and European studies education at school, a group of students had a unique possibility to touch upon the multinational environment of MNC NE while visiting Baltic Barracks.
Major Marcin Czekalski from the Headquarters’ Public Affairs Office delivered a multimedia presentation which covered various areas of interest. Above others, he was talking about the history, structure, missions and role of the Corps as well as its multinational character. Since there were also representatives of other nationalities in the group than Poles, the students were especially interested in the culture and daily work and life within a multinational environment of 11 nations cooperating with each other. In just a few days, the students will accomplish their education at the Junior High School level and some of them will continue their education outside Poland. For sure they will find themselves in a multinational environment, in which such cooperation is essential. A huge interest also awoke the explanation how the cooperation looked while the MNC NE staff served at the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan.
“For young people the participation in this kind of education outside the school is an interesting way to deepen the knowledge,” said Koleta Juryś-Pietraszko, a teacher and leader of media and European studies class. “Information which students received today will definitely be useful in the next stages of their education,” she added.
The programme of the trip prepare for students also includes visiting other institutions in Szczecin.
