An annual Joint Effects Centre (JEC) Seminar was conducted in Baltic Barracks from 20 to 22 June 2011 in order to train selected staff members of Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) in planning and execution of Joint Effects.
The Seminar was a combination of syndicate work and a practical exercise. The coordination and cooperation among all participating personnel was supervised by Lieutenant Colonel Jarosław Przybyła, the Chief of Effects Branch from the Headquarters Operational G3 Staff Division. The whole participating personnel got actively engaged into all parts of the Seminar in order to achieve the planned aims of the Seminar.
This year, in accordance with the Joint Effects Concept, the Seminar was focused mainly on the coordinated and synchronized use of the Command, Control and Information System (C2IS) Szafran. All representatives had an opportunity to use C2IS Szafran and refine the procedures prior to the MNC NE exercise Little Eagle II.
All participants were divided into two teams which were focusing on lethal and non-lethal issues. Lieutenant Colonel Jarosław Wrona led the group which focused on joint fires procedures. In that group brainstorming was conducted by specialists from Deep Operations, Artillery, Air Defence, Army Aviation and Air Operation Coordination Centre. The leader of the second group, Major Erwin Langer – an Information Operation representative – had an opportunity to share common understanding among representatives from Psychological Operations (PSYOPS), Electronical Warfare (EW), Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) and Public Affairs (PA). Syndicates’ co-workers worked on the capabilities, means and ways how they can achieve more synergetic effects when they combine their efforts. Based on a provided scenario from the Bold Eagle exercise, using a fictitious area of operation, the two teams reached their goals.
The results of the Seminar will be useful during the Little Eagle II exercise scheduled for September this year.
